SUMMARY:Confined Space
DESCRIPTION:Confined Space\n\n\n\nEntry into confined spaces has always required special training\, skills\, and equipment\, but OSHA's new construction space entry standard\, a more detailed approach is needed and emphasis is placed on some work spaces - like attics and crawl spaces - that may not have been treated like confined spaces in the past.\n\n\n\nThis program will provide attendees with one of two options for learning about the new OSHA construction confined space standard.\n\n\n\nThe first option is to attend the first two hours and learn about OSHA's new regulation and how it differs from the previous version\, as well as the general industry permit-required confined space standard.\n\n\n\nThe second option continues the rest of the day\, and is devoted to actual training. There will be additional discussion on the contents and requirements of the new regulation and we will conduct hands-on exercise that build the skills necessary to effectively evaluate and manage entry into a construction confined space. This time will include discussion and use of common confined space entry equipment. \n\n\n\nCourse Outline:\n\nOption 1 - two hour session\n\n\n	Defining and identifying construction confined spaces\n	Permit vs. non-permit spaces and other key terminology\n	Hazards of construction confined space entry\n	Highlights of OSHA's new construction confined space entry regulation\n	Key differences from general industry regulation\n	Controlling contractor responsibilities\n\nOption 2 - Full day and hands-on activities\n\n\n	All "2 hour session" material\n	Evaluating spaces for existing/potential hazards\n	Using a permit\n	Air quality\, sampling\, monitoring and ventilation\n	Methods to eliminate and control confined space hazards\n	Entry team and responsibilities\n	Rescue/retrieval planning and equipment\n	Additional confined space entry program requirements
