EPA Seminar

Compliance Assistance Session on the RRP Rule with EPA Representatives

  • What is the RRP Rule?
    • The Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Rule requires that firms performing renovation, repair, and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities and pre-schools built before 1978 have their firm certified by EPA, use certified renovators who are trained by EPA-approved training providers, and follow lead-safe work practices.
  • Why is it Important?
    • The RRP Rule is designed to protect children and families from hazardous lead dust that could potentially be created when lead-paint is disturbed during renovation, repair, or painting projects.
    • Avoid costly fines and civil liability
      • Without certification and by not following approved practices, you and your company can face fines and lawsuits.
    • Gain a competitive edge
      • Certification makes you stand out from others and positions you as a professional contractor consumers can trust.
      • Consumers will look for the certification before hiring contractors
      • Your company will be listed as a Lead-Safe Certified Contractor on the EPA Website, giving your company the potential for new customers.
  • What Will Be Covered in this Q&A Session?
    • Learn about the RRP Rule
    • How to obtain Firm and Renovator Certifications
    • Renovations covered under the RRP Rule
    • Work Practice Requirements
