Seminar Description:
As of April 22, 2010, federal law required that any contractor performing renovation, repair, and painting (RRP) projects that disturb more than six square feet of paint in homes, child care facilities, and schools built before 1978, MUST be certified and trained to follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination.
This four hour course and certification will allow students to maintain qualification as a Certified Renovator, as required by the EPA for renovations involving lead based paint in housing prior to 1978. Students successfully completing this course will receive a Renovator Certification good for five years.
Topics Include:
- Background on lead paint
- Regulations
- Before work (training, test painting)
- Containing dust during work
- Lead-safe work practices and worker protection
- Cleaning activities and "cleaning verification"
- Recordkeeping
- Training non-certified workers
Supervisors/project managers responsible for ensuring compliance with EPA Lead Paint requirements in older homes and other child-care buildings should attend. Students should be capable and authorized to train other personnel in their respective companies.
The class is limited to those who have completed the Certified Renovator Initial or Refresher class within the past five years.
